The Surf

South Sumatra boasts a diverse range of surfing spots for a multitude of conditions, from heavy beach breaks to peaks, slabs, and points.

Our closest wave, Mandiri Beach, situated centrally in the area, stands out as the most consistent surf spot. Exposure to all swells ensures that it never lags in quality, consistently delivering powerful waves. The waves originate from deep water, breaking onto shallow sandbanks, resulting in hollow, long reeling walls.

Seasons

November through May is the best time to catch the more exposed surf spots, like Mandiri Beach, Jenny’s Right, and a few of the point breaks in the area. The winds are light and variable, and the waves are clean and consistent.

We get consistently large swells during the months of June to October, coinciding with the prevailing South East trade winds. This favorable weather condition is perfect in the more sheltered areas, including Krui Bay and reef breaks like Jimmy’s Right and Honey Smacks. These breaks require a certain size to get going.

Transport

A car service is available on request to transport you anywhere in the area. Simply let our villa manager know when you need the car. For early starts, please arrange the evening before. Our drivers are well-versed in the locations of surf spots, restaurants, and all major tourist attractions. The cars will fit five people comfortably with surfboard racks fitted on the roof.

Alternatively, scooters can be rented throughout your stay. While you won’t have the convenience of a driver guiding you, they’re an excellent way to explore and experience the local area firsthand. Just inform our villa manager when you’d like to rent them, and he’ll arrange for the bike to be delivered to your doorstep.
